Calama is located in the El Loa province in the Antofagasta region at 1.537 kilometers from Santiago and at 2.260 meters above sea level. It’s a mining city par excellence and has a cold desert climate with low rainfall and temperatures that average 12°C since it has an extreme climate with low temperatures at night but high temperatures during the day. It’s arid vegetation is found in the saline landscapes, valleys and mountain range.
